General Information
How long does it take to become a pilot?
Depends on training frequency and pathway
What is the minimum age to start flying?
Under Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations:
- You can fly solo from 15 years old
- You can obtain a Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL) from 16 years old
Many students begin training earlier with an instructor, building skills and knowledge before reaching solo age.
Do I need to be good at maths or physics?
No. While basic knowledge can help, it is not a requirement. Our training is structured to teach you everything you need from the ground up.
How do I know if aviation is right for me?
If you’re unsure, we recommend starting with a Trial Introductory Flight. This allows you to experience flying first-hand before committing to a full training programme — a common entry point for many students.
Will I feel airsick?
Some students may initially feel motion discomfort, but this usually improves as you gain experience and confidence in the aircraft.
Do you provide insurance?
Wingman Academies maintains operational insurance coverage. Students may consider personal insurance depending on individual needs.
