Commercial Pilot Licence training advanced flight operations cockpit

Training Overview

The Private Pilot Licence (PPL) expands your flying privileges and unlocks the freedom to travel further, fly cross-country, and operate with greater confidence. With a PPL, you gain advanced skills in navigation, weather interpretation, and flight planning-  ideal for pilots who want more independence or who are preparing for commercial training.

Who This Course Is For

Private pilot training in Perth student flying aircraft

Training Structure

Advanced Navigation Training

Students develop cross-country navigation skills including flight planning, aeronautical chart interpretation, navigation log preparation, and route management between aerodromes.

Cross-country flight experience

Students conduct navigation flights beyond the local training area, building real experience operating between airports and managing longer flight operations.

Structured assessments
and skill development

Training focuses on refining aircraft handling, situational awareness, and operational decision-making required for safe and confident flight operations.

CASA PPL theory components

Ground training covers key knowledge areas required for the CASA PPL examination, including navigation, meteorology, aircraft performance, air law, and operational procedures.

Dual and Solo Navigation Exercises

Students complete both instructor-guided and supervised solo navigation flights to build independence and prepare for the CASA PPL flight test.

Training Process

To commence the Private Pilot Licence (PPL), students must meet CASA eligibility requirements, including the appropriate medical certification and identification requirements.

Our team will guide you through the enrolment process and any regulatory requirements to ensure a smooth and efficient start to your training.

Once enrolled, students complete an orientation covering training structure, safety standards, and operational procedures. This briefing ensures a clear understanding of the training pathway and how progress is managed.

Ground theory provides the essential knowledge for safe flight, covering navigation, meteorology, air law, aircraft systems, and flight planning. Training prepares students for the PPL theory exam and informed decision-making in the cockpit.

Flight training develops practical flying skills through progressive lessons. Students learn aircraft handling, circuit operations, and safe decision-making under the guidance of experienced instructors, building toward confident and independent flight.

Navigation training expands flying beyond the circuit, teaching students to plan and conduct longer flights, manage fuel and weather, and operate across different airspace. This phase builds the skills required for confident Pilot-in-Command navigation flights.

Once training requirements are met, students are recommended for the PPL flight test with a CASA-approved Testing Officer. The assessment evaluates aircraft handling, navigation, and sound operational decision-making, leading to the issue of the Private Pilot Licence upon successful completion.
